Re: How many PAR sensors do you have?

Also, you shouldn't need anymore than two PAR sensors to establish the vertical extinction coefficient (K)

K = 2.3 (log I, h-log I (h+1))

l, h and I are light intensity at depths h meters and (h+1) meters

Re: How many PAR sensors do you have?

Here's a better example of a DIY PAR sensor, similar to what we made.

Re: How many PAR sensors do you have?

If I ever have a PAR sensor on a buoy it is underwater at 1 m depth and I have used it (Licor) for estimating primary productivity (with DO). I did not have a wiper on it, but we cleaned it occasionally, probably not enough. I would like to regularly have them on all buoys in air and underwater, but ...

Re: External wipers for sensors

Thanks for sending that info on the UV anti-fouling light! I had not heard of this before, very cool idea.

This aquaticsensors company is also one I had not heard of before.

Re: RF Cables

LMR-240, 50 Ohm coaxial cable is a good choice.

Re: Wet pluggable cable sources

No, we do not ALWAYS need wet pluggable, but when we do I was just listing what we have been using. There are a lot of sellers out there for these and I was just wondering what other people have used and if they had any opinions. Thanks for the tip on Blue Trail, that is helpful!

Re: What data loggers are used on buoys?

True on the CR1000's. Its why I still use them on a couple of our buoys. However, we just started using Blues Wireless with one of our custom Esp32 boards. It is capable of over the air code updates using cellular. It seems to work well so far, but I admit have not done extensive field testing yet.

Re: Wind sensors

Nice! I will have to get a MaxiMet GMX501 the next time I am in the market. Have used ATMOS22's on most of our buoys and have experienced some problems with a few of them just stopping to reporting values completely and only reporting -9999.

Wet pluggable cable sources

What are people using for bulkhead connectors and wet mating cables? There are many suppliers on Alibaba out of China.

This is the latest company we have been using.
