Biofouling: Copper tape?

What kind of success have people had with biofouling products? That last two years the mussels have completely shut down our sensors in the fall. We use the EXO sondes with a central wiper and that works for one station but no so much the other. I was going to some copper tape but also wondering if anyone has used the copper alloy sonde guard? Substantially more expensive but if it works...

Hi Sarah!! I've used copper tape in Green Bay and it works for the most part... I would wrap each probe in tape honestly. I do not have the copper guard, but I usually have pretty good success with the EXOs w/o any tape when I can swap them out with clean ones once or twice a season.

I use copper tape on my turner c3's guard, but it does nothing inside the housing and the wiper fails every year. I also can't lift it out of the buoy to clean it when it's deployed. I hate that thing.

How often are you servicing the sondes?
